So I am sure you have noticed by now but… I’ve been neglecting this blog.
Sorry!! Haven’t done a podcast in more almost two months. Haven’t been keeping up with the release lists. Just let the doujin rankings slide.
Heck I didn’t do the Diamond list until someone reminded me. I literally immediately then took a break, grabbed my PDA, and ran to the cafeteria to try to post something half-assed up.
In case you don’t know I have been in Japan for a little while now. I have been doing a little work here and there. The hours are long as I still have work to do for my peeps in the States. I have also started a weekly series over at the OtakuUSA website (I think Icarus Pub linked to it last week… Muchas gracias Mr. Jones)
To try to thank you all who still tune in everyday I want to start a new feature. One that will only work while I am here (my current stay has me here till November). I’ll be posting a random, and by random I mean RANDOM, manga everyday. I’ll start with today, but please starting tomorrow please try to go back to the day I arrived (August 10) to see some more stuff. If I have time I’ll post some commentary, but my reasoning here is to just share the wild world of comics with you all. I mean as long as I have access to a scanner and a huge library of comics why not take advantage of the situation, right?!
Today’s installment is bound to tickle the hearts of my two most distinguished manga disciples. I am still waiting for manga reviews from them… Looks at K first… but I think the idea of this manga existing will motivate them to not only type more but maybe have bigger dreams of becoming manga hunting knights someday.
Having just premiered in the most recent edition of Houbunsha’s Weekly Manga TIMES is a title that might make you reach out for the Drip of God and Yakitate JaPan… This my friends is Yamaguchi Yoshinobu’s Le Temps des Fromages (A Time for Cheese)
We start off in Paris, where else, where a royal knighting ceremony is taking place. Royal Knights of Cheese are being honored here and the newest person to receive the honor is late…
When she finally does arrive we find out that it is a young Japanese woman; a girl whose beauty and love for cheese cannot be rivaled.
Her name is Ahine Remi, and she was late cause she is taking her skills home to Japan (much to the disappointment of many single gourmands of France)!
This first chapter has Remi moving into her new apartment in East Tokyo, I believe in Arakawa ward. There she tries to befriend her new landlord, a very traditional Japanese shitamachi artist, with a wheel of the king of cheeses - Roquefort.
I LOVE CHEESE!! That says it all. And that’’s seinen manga for you…
Time to get back to work. Check in again tomorrow when I should have something up for August 10 and Sept 19.

I’m from the Midwest, which means I also LOVE CHEESE.
No worries mate! In fact, I’d like more “random” posts from you and your manga life. Release lists and doujin rankings, bah! I want to know what Ed MM4MM Chavez is up to!
*I’d like to apologize for any poor grammar in the above comment. Back to back nights of playing keeper (20 years since i did that) and point guard (I’m a 6′5″ swingman dammit!) on a team with no subs, mixed with The World’s Best Ibuprofen (ale), have left me silly.

The cover of that mook is the creepiest thing I’ve ever seen. 0_0 and I come from a country that produced Pamela Anderson AND Paris Hilton. 0_o.

[…] Ed at Mangacast treats us to a peek at Le Temps des Frommages by Yamaguchi Yoshinobu. Truly, Roquefort is the king of cheese. […]

Tina- Yeah every issue of the magazine is like that. Instead of a photo of a model or actress, Houbunsha provides an artist rendition of one… Not sure which is creepier
September 18 2008
That’s strange that they don’t just use photos of gravure models or actresses like most other magazines. I think the artist rendition looks creepier because it looks reeeeeeally too realistic, like they just traced over a photo or something.
