Over at SameHat2 Ryan “Kansai” Sands shares some info on Viz’s latest Signature announcement - Cat Eyed Boy. According to Amazon Nekome Kozou will be released in two 500+ page wideban for $24 this June.
Now the direct to wideban deal got me thinking. What was Viz going to do with Slam Dunk? And what about that One Pound Gospel re-release? Well early indications have Slam Dunk at $7.99 (so that’s a regular SJ release….DRAT!!). And 1lbG? Viz will actually go back and start from volume 1 and release all four volumes.
But wait Amazon had so much more from Viz…More from Tanemura. They have this weird manga about a make-up and special effects artist called Gimmick! Cooking manga is cool…if it’s shoujo apparently as Mixed Vegetables gets picked up. And the wait for Black Lagoon is over!! Now when is Shin Angyo Onshi coming?
Expect these titles to start hitting shelves this June.

HAH! Well since Viz is owned by Shogakukan it wouldn’t likely go to anyone else (but then again the same was said about GANTZ at one point so…)
I know this isn’t going into the Signature line, so there is a possibility. But outside of FMA, Viz has been pretty good with their regular Viz Media line. Its Shonen Jump and Shojo Beat that people have to worry about.
